I agree with you about the use of the Ibong Adarna and other mythological elements.

Even the great Shakespeare drew upon existing legends and stories. Hamlet was not purely his own creation. Same with the Greek poets of classical times. But no one accuses them of unoriginality. Their genius lay in their ability to take old material and make it new, relevant to their times and accomodating to the tastes of their audiences.

If anything, as streestopper says, we should commend the Mulawin writers for cleverly weaving all these elements from various sources (Philippine mythology, LOTR, Scarlet Letter, etc.) into one fine tale of their own.

Could the last berdeng binhi be essential to the Mulawin tree's bearing fruit again? Remember, the green binhi and the Balasik came with it. But Aguiluz needs the binhi too so he can get his wings and feathered wig back. :)

I'm clueless as to which actor you're alluding to. Peace. :)
